Denorex Extra Strength penetrates to relieve the annoying itching, irritation and scalp build-up of dandruff, and also helps stop these symptoms from coming back. This shampoo and conditioner contains 3% Salicylic acid, which is particularly effective at removing heavy flakes and scaling, and with regular use, keeping them away, so you don?t have to worry about embarrassing flakes. Our dandruff shampoo is an anti-seborrheic that works by slowing the production of skin cells, which helps to reduce flakiness. Not only does Denorex Extra Strength help with dandruff, but this vitamin-enriched shampoo and built-in conditioner provides the body, shine and manageability you would expect from a separate conditioner. What is Dandruff?
Dandruff occurs when dead skin cells shed faster than normal. The shedding of skin is what causes visible flakes to appear on your hair and on your shoulders. Dandruff also can include an irritated, red and itchy scalp. Seborrheic dermatitis is a more severe form of dandruff.
What Causes Dandruff?
- MALASSEZIA GLOBOSA: Malassezia Globosa is the most common cause of dandruff. It is a fungus that is naturally found on the scalp of almost everyone. When the malassezia fungus grows too rapidly the normal renewal of skin cells is altered and dead skin cells shed faster than normal.
- PARCHED DRY SKIN: Parched dry skin is another common cause of dandruff. This is true especially in the winter when our skin suffers through fluctuating temperature changes and dries out more than other times of the year. The dry skin results in itching and flaking.
- SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS: Seborrheic dermatitis is a more severe form of dandruff and is caused by the same factors.
- SCALP PSORIASIS: Although there are similarities between the symptoms of scalp psoriasis and dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis, the causes are different. Scalp psoriasis is caused by a rare genetic condition that effects the body?s immune system.
- OTHER CAUSE: Other causes of dandruff include family history, infrequent shampooing, excessive perspiration, sensitivity to certain chemicals in hair care products, pollution, stress and over heat-styling hair.
